BDJS tests waters in Alappuzha
Alappuzha: Even though the election commission has not allotted a symbol to their party and it has no organizational structure in most constituencies, the candidates of the SNDP-sponsored Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) in Alappuzha district have kicked off campaigns with high hope.
The BDJS has already completed the first round of door-to-door campaign in Kayamkulam, Kuttanad, Cherthala and Aroor constituencies where the party contests as a partner in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). It wants to prove its strength in this election so that it can build on for the next.
“To begin with, we say we are no Ezhava community party,” said MT Purushothaman, a BDJS leader in Kuttanad. “We have the support and the blessings of all communities which really believe in social justice. We cannot be written off; moreover, we expect nothing less than a spectacular victory.”
BDJS sources said SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan and party president Thushar Vellappally will focus their attention on Alappuzha district which included kuttanad where where its general secretary Subhash Vasu contests. “The public acceptance of our candidate has created a great traction for the party,” Mr Purushothaman said.
Sensing the shifting equations, the BJP has also swung into action marshalling all its organisational strength to consolidate the NDA position. It is understood that BJP State president Kummanam Rajashekharan will ensure coordination between the two parties in the constituencies in which BDJC contests.
