First batch of Agniveer completes BMT training

Hyderabad: The first batch of Agniveers, whose had training commenced on January 2 at the Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) Centre in Secunderabad, completed 10 weeks of their basic military training (BMT) on Tuesday.
A statement said the trainees first found the going tough but with the dedicated team of drill instructors helped them mastered the craft. The Agniveers were put through a systematic strength and physical training cycle which helped them clear mandatory tests but also inculcated in them steadfastness to bear with all circumstances and situations, a statement said.
It said the Agniveers were trained in the use of weapons. They were subjected to the rigours and ordeals to be expected in the time of hostilities. The recruits performed well and their acquired military acumen was visible and the ‘josh factor’ was irrepressible, it said.
The Agniveers were put through a detailed regime of map reading, public speaking, leadership building sessions and motivational lectures to name a few.
The AOC also held inter-company sports competitions which witnessed elements of leadership and team spirit.
A statement said they would wear the olive green in the second phase of their training, the advance military training (AMT), which is set to commence soon.
