Hyderabad: A car caught fire under the Telugu Talli statue flyover on Monday afternoon. Traffic police and locals pulled out the man who was driving the vehicle, a taxi cab, as well as a passenger. No casualties were reported.
According to the fire officials of Secunderabad, who rushed to the spot on receiving an alert, smoke started coming out of the vehicle while it was proceeding from Tank Bund towards Saifabad. The driver stopped the vehicle and was helped out of the flaming vehicle.
Traffic flow on the busy road was affected for a few minutes following the incident but was soon cleared. Curious motorists and pedestrians stopped on the road to photograph the stricken vehicle.
The driver and a person travelling in the car immediately got down and reached a safe distance with the help of other commuters, said a traffic police official, who called the fire brigade. Officials suspect a short circuit might have resulted in the incident.
