Chennai: Plea against carriage of single large rock rejected
A division bench comprising Justices S.Manikumar and Subramonium Prasad dismissed the PIL filed by advocate P. Rathinam.
Chennai: The Madras high court has dismissed a public interest litigation, which sought a direction to authorities to stall the movement of the heavy vehicle carrying a single large rock from Korakottai village, Vandavasi taluk, Thiruvannamalai district to Bengaluru by the Kothandaramaswamy Charitable Trust, Bengaluru.
A division bench comprising Justices S.Manikumar and Subramonium Prasad dismissed the PIL filed by advocate P. Rathinam. Pointing out that the petitioner is aware of the order granting permission, the bench said mandamus (direction) cannot be issued because the permission has been granted in the year 2014 and the rock is being transported from Korakottai village, Vandavasi taluk, Tiruvannamalai district to Bengaluru.
