Vijayawada: A student died on the spot while another, pillion riding on his bike, was critically injured in a road mishap on the service road parallel to Vijayawada-Chennai NH-16 in the early hours of Thursday at Tadepalli in Guntur district.
The two students were travelling on a bike to Tadepalli from Vijayawada and they dashed an earthmover, which was parked on the service road.
On info, the police rushed to the place of mishap and shifted the injured to the hospital for treatment.
According to Tadepalli Urban SI R. Narayana, Sk Shahrukh Sharif, 22, a third-year B. Tech student of KL University, and B.V. Praneeth were travelling on the bike. Sharif died on the spot and Praneeth is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
Sharif belongs to Navuluru in Mangala-giri mandal, Guntur district. The bike dashed the earthmover near the panchayat office of Tadepalli. Tadepalli police registered a case.
