Kerala: 8-year-old girl mowed down by tipper lorry
Thrissur: Reckless driving by a tipper driver on Tuesday took the life of a third standard schoolgirl at Kombazha near Peechi on Tuesday morning. Angel, 8, daughter of Chittilappily James, residing in the locality was allegedly mowed down by the speeding tipper. The girl was crossing the road along with her grandmother when the accident took place. She died on the spot.
Peechi Police said that the driver of the tipper was carrying metal for the ongoing highway widening works and it was a gross mistake committed by the driver while overtaking another vehicle that led to the accident. Angel was a student of Kombazha St Mary’s School. Soon after the incident, the driver escaped. The public staged a road roko on the NH demanding inspection of the vehicle by motor vehicle inspector. MLA K Rajan, came to the spot and held discussions with the protestors.
