Jishnu Pranoy death case: Students speak against Nehru College

Police also did not yield to their request to seal Jishnu's bathroom in the hostel where he was found hanging.

Thrissur: Students of Nehru College Pampady have come out in the open against the college management accusing them of putting pressure on them and their guardians to give favourable statements to the special investigation team of the police. They said the authorities were in touch with 50 students including those from whose answer sheet the management allege Jishnu Pranoy tried to copy during the exams on January 6. PRO Sanjith Viswanath came to their hostel at 10 pm after Jishnu committed suicide on the day, and threatened them not to speak to the media. Police also did not yield to their request to seal Jishnu's bathroom in the hostel where he was found hanging.

P. Naser Mohammed, Justin John and Dino Anto told reporters that their demand was to take action against college trustee P. Krishnadas, Sanjith Viswanath, teacher C. P. Praveen, vice-principal Sakthivel and physical trainer Govindankutty, facing allegations of physically and mentally torturing them, including Jishnu. “But the SIT has not even questioned them,” the students said, adding without taking proper action against those five, they would not allow the college to reopen. Meanwhile, the management has decided to reopen the Pharmacy College on the campus on Wednesday.
