Hyderabad: 'Missing' HCU student found; cops say he has mental disorder'

Hyderabad: A "missing" research scholar of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) has been traced, with the police today denying reports that he was friends with Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula.

Police said that D. Suresh, whose father had lodged a complaint with Gachibowli police on Saturday stating that his son went missing from the health centre on the varsity campus, was facing some "mental problem" and went away himself.

Suresh was traced yesterday.

"Who said he was a friend of Rohith?. He is a research scholar. He had been facing some mental disorder and went away himself by driving his bike after he was taken to the health centre," said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Madhapur Division) M Ramana Kumar.

Kumar said as per information available with police, "Suresh reportedly got afraid that he was being taken to a mental hospital in view of his health condition and fled away".
