Festivities mark Prakash Utsav celebrations

HYDERABAD: The 356th Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh was celebrated with gaiety and devotion by the Sikh community at Gurudwara Saheb in Secunderabad on Sunday.

Guru Gobind Singh was the tenth and the last Sikh guru, who founded Khalsa Panth. His birthday is celebrated as Prakash Utsav every year.

The celebrations were marked by recitations of Gurbani Shabad keertans, delivering of Gurbani Vichar (sermons), Guru-ka-Langar, organised by Prabandhak Committee of Gurdwara Sahib. Over 15,000 devotees participated in ‘Vishal Deewan’ (Mass Congregation) and offered it to Guru Granth Sahib Ji (the holy scripture of Sikhs) at Classic Garden in Balamrai.

Prabandhak committee president, S. Baldev Singh Bagga said that the congregation began at 10.30 am and continued till 4 pm. Gurubani Keertans and Kathas (holy hymns) were rendered by renowned and reputed Ragi Jathas.

The traditional Guru-Ka-Langar was served to all the devotees.
