Hyderabad: A 22 year-old man who attempted to snatch a gold chain from a woman’s neck was convicted by a court on Wednesday. The convict was directed to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 18 months and pay Rs 1,500 as fine.
P. Balakrishna, 22, of Raipur village, Medak district, was arrested by the Medchal police on March 5, 2015, when he attempted to snatch a gold chain from a woman pedestrian.
Balakrishna, who was pursuing graduation at a private college, was an addict and was running short of money to meet his expenses.
The accused planned to snatch the gold chain from a woman but was caught in the attempt and arrested.
