University of Hyderabad ejects students, ends stir
Hyderabad: ABVP student leaders, who had been on strike since the past three days in the UoH, on Monday alleged that they were dragged out of the admin building by security officers. They also alleged that the building was barricaded to stop students from entering.
ABVP-OBCF students are demanding the varsity declare their candidate winner of the election for the students union vice-president. ABVP leader Udaya Inala said, “Since the V-P candidate was found to be ineligible, the result was withheld. We are demanding that out candidate be declared the winner as he was the runner-up.”
He added, “The university administration has been delaying the decision by forming different committees. The guards sent by the Vice-Chancellor dragged students out of the building and threw all our stuff outside. We want action against election panel and the department that failed to submit the attendance of candidates who participated in the elections.”
Chief security officer T.V. Rao said, “A panel was constituted to intervene in the elections and students were asked to wait till the report is out. The ABVP students were asked to end their strike. When they refused to vacate the admin building, we had to remove them.”
