Hyderabad: Renowned architect and three-time Lok Sabha member Baddam Narasimha Reddy died at a private hospital here on Monday. He was 82.
B.N. Reddy is survived by three daughters. He was responsible for the introduction of the multi-storey apartments culture in the city by building Shanti Sikhara and Kanthi Sikhara residential complexes.
He introduced the janata flats culture and some colonies in the city, such as BN Reddy Nagar, were named after him. He was recognised as a Vastu Shilpi by the then government.
Reddy was elected to the Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket from the erstwhile Miryalaguda constituency in 1989, 1996 and 1998.
He was a poet; his couplets were published in the form of compilations such as B.N. Bhashitalu Samanyuni Sandesam and B.N. Bhava Tarangini.
He wrote a book, A Glimpse of Practical Vastu, and was a popular figure in cultural circles.
His son Chandrasekhara Reddy, 56, shot himself in 2015, and his wife passed away a few years ago.
After his son’s death, B.N. Reddy, who was suffering from cancer, became depressed. The last rites will be performed on Tuesday after his grandson arrives from the USA.
