Over 12 lakh students appear for TNPSC group IV exam

Of 15 lakh eligible candidates, more than 80 per cent of them appeared for the exam.

Chennai: Over 12 lakh students from across the state appeared for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission’s (TNPSC) group IV exam on Sunday.

TNPSC had notified 5,451 vacancies in the group IV services, including junior assistant, typist and bill collector, draftsman and field surveyor posts in various departments of state government. Of 15 lakh eligible candidates, more than 80 per cent of them appeared for the exam.

“In the current affairs section, questions were asked about Tamil Nadu Governor (in charge) C. Vidyasagar Rao and Olympic medalist P.V. Sindhu. Compared to last time, the questions in current affairs and general Tamil sections were very easy,” a candidate said.

The solitary paper in the exam is for 300 marks. It has general studies, aptitude test, general Tamil / general En-glish sections. Minimum qualifying marks is 90.
“All district collectors have made excellent preparations with co-ordination of other departments for the conduct of the group IV exam. We will soon release the results of nine recruitment exams conducted this year,” TNPSC chairman K. Arulmozhi told reporters here after visiting an exam centre in Triplicane.

“The notification for 85 group I posts will be issued on Wednesday. We plan to conduct village administrative officer exam and judiciary services exam before the end of this year,” he said, adding that the new instruction for candidates will be uploaded on the TNPSC website on Monday.
