Hyderabad: Techie says lost sight in sinus operation
Hyderabad: A techie from Kukatpally complained of loss of vision after getting a sinus surgery done at Omni Hospitals in Kukatpally and protested at the hospital along with his relatives on Sunday.
When contacted, hospital officials denied that there was any fault from their side.
Dr M. Gautham Reddy of Omni Hospitals, said, “The patient developed blurred vision after an ENT surgery done at the hospital. He panicked over it thinking he will lose his sight. In some patients blurring of vision happens after ENT surgery, It is not a cause of worry.” However, extended treatment is being provided to the patient for the vision problem, he added.
Techie, kin stage protest
As per the version of another doctor from Omni Hospitals who refused to identify himself, the techie, Mr Hariprasad, developed vision problems after he got ENT surgery done at the hospital.
After this, he went to another eye hospital in the city where he was told by doctors that his vision is at risk. However, on Sunday, when Hariprasad and his family protested, a consulting doctor of Omni Hospital who performed the surgery on Hariprasad was called by the hospital authorities to meet protesters.
After the techie and his family were assured of treatment by the doctor they stopped their protests and left. Meanwhile, a woman died during surgery at the same hospital. Dr Reddy said that there was no fault from the hospital’s side in this. He said the woman was pregnant and had developed a severe heart condition during delivery at another hospital.
