Speaker praises Jagananna Arogya Suraksha, calls it best in country

Visakhapatnam: Speaker Tammineni Sitaram lauded the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha health programme and called it the best health service system in the country.

He inaugurated the health scheme at Dharmapuram village under Ponduru mandal under his Amadalavalasa constituency on Friday.

After visiting the help desk, IT room, OP counter, nutrition counter, and registration desk, the Speaker told reporters that under the scheme, every individual in the state would be covered and their health data would be recorded for future consultation. He said the health data of five crore people would be collected in 45 days.

"This kind of massive exercise does not exist anywhere in the country," the Speaker told reporters.

He said the health services like Aarogyasri and 108 were launched by the former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and now his son Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken it two steps further by launching the family doctor system and Jagananna Arogya Suraksha.

People belonging to poorer sections need not depend on corporate hospitals for treatment.

He said these camps would conduct 14 types of tests and distribute 105 types of medicines free of cost. Even free spectacles were being given to the people after conducting eye tests.

The Speaker later laid the foundation stone for a concrete road in the same village for which an amount of Rs 35 lakh has been sanctioned. He asked the contractor to complete the road within the scheduled time.
