Nellore: A woman and her husband have died on the spot while their son sustained grievous injuries when a speeding TSRTC bus ran over them on the National Highway No. 16 near Kammapalem of Kodavalur mandal during the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Malepati Subbarayudu, 80, and his wife Subbaravamma, 60. Their son Shoban, 40, suffered injuries in the accident and he was rushed to a private hospital in Nellore for treatment.
The family belongs to Aravapalem in Bapatla district and they were on their way to Tirumala along with their relatives in three cars.
The car in which the victims were travelling came to a halt because of some engine issue when it reached Kammapalem.
The mishap took place when the Telangana RT bus knocked down the trio when they were crossing the road.
Kodavaluru police registered a case and are investigating.
