CM Pinarayi Vijayan chides civic staff for delaying project works
KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged authorities to develop a habit of finishing works they undertake before deadline. He added that along with merits, they should spend time to analyse demerits and take corrective steps. While addressing a felicitation programme organised by Kozhikode Municipal Corporation at Council Hall on Thursday, the CM chided the corporation for not completing works on time.
His comments came after Mayor Thottahil Raveendran complained that the expiry date of KSUDP projects delayed completion if various drainage projects in city. “The memorandum says since the KSUDP project expiry date is over, further work couldn’t be undertaken by the civic body. Who can be blamed for it and how did it happen?” he asked.
He mentioned examples of projects that were completed before deadline during his tenure as electricity minister. He also said that he personally will not support the suggestion for converting Mananchira into a tourist destination, since tourist inflow may affect the already crowded city. Mr Vijayan said that the state government will necessary steps to address the issues mentioned in the memorandum submitted by the corporation and extended all possible support.
