Mayor launches fever test program

Hyderabad: City Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi appealed to the people on Tuesday to take precautions to prevent the spread of dengue. As part of the effort, she started a fever test programme in NBT Nagar ward and briefed residents.

Vijayalakshmi said residents must ensure that the surroundings are clean. She said the GHMC entomology department had been entrusted with 4,846 colonies. One person would visit all houses in two or three colonies to brief residents on anti-dengue measures. Fogging and spraying of insecticide would be undertaken to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.

She said ASHA workers would collect blood samples from people with fever and asked the citizens to cooperate with officials, representatives and volunteers when they visit their homes. “All residents on should participate in cleaning their surroundings at 10 am for at least 10 minutes on Sundays,” she said.
