Karnataka bus damaged by agitators
THANJAVUR: Two unidentified persons who came on a motorbike allegedly threw stones at a bus owned by the Karnataka State Transport Corporation and broke the windscreen of the bus on Monday night.
The Karnataka State Transport Corporation operates a bus from Thanjavur to Bengaluru every day. The bus comes to Thanjavur from Bengaluru at 10 pm and goes to Bengaluru at 6 am the next day. Meanwhile, it is parked near a temple at Melavasthathchavadi near Thanjavur. On Monday night, the bus reached the new bus stand. After passengers alighted from the bus, it was going to Melavasthathchavadi, when, according to police, two unidentified persons threw stones at it. The windscreen of the bus was damaged.
The persons allegedly raised slogans against Karnataka. Tamil University police rushed to the spot, brought the bus to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation workshop at Karanthai and parked it safely. The bus did not go to Bengaluru in the morning. Police registered a case and are investigating.
