AP Governor lays stone for development works in Eluru Railway Station

KAKINADA: Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazir laid the stone for the development works at Eluru Railway Station at a cost of Rs 21.1 crore on Sunday under the Amrit Bharat scheme.

The governor did the inauguration of development works after watching the video message that came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The entrance to the station, the passages, traffic facilities, waiting rooms etc would be made or modernized under the scheme in ways as to shape this as one of the best railway stations in the country.

Eluru collector Prasanna Venkatesh, DIG Ashok Kumar, SP Mary Prashanthi, ZP chairman Ghanta Padmasri and others welcomed the governor. Railway DRM Anandarao Patil, senior DCM Vavilalapalli Rambabu, senior DE Varun Babu and others were present.

Kakinada MP, Vanga Githa, said Kakinada and Tuni railway stations would be developed. Former minister Kurasala Kannababu said Vanga Githa succeeded in bringing funds for development of tailway stations and helped get a halt to Vande Bharat express train in Samalkot.

State BC welfare minister SV Gopalakrishna, Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy and others were present.

Rajamahendravaram Bharat said the Nidadavolu Railway Station would be developed at a cost of Rs 27.1 crore under the Amrit Bharat scheme. Infrastructure facilities would be improved and renovation of platforms would be done at the railway station. He also said the Rajamahendravaram station would be developed at a cost of '300 crore and the Anaparthi station with 20 crore.

He said more Vande Bharat trains would be introduced between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada and a third railway line would come up in that route. A proposal for construction of a new bridge across Godavari between Kovvuru and Rajamahendravaram has been sent to the Union Railways and the Union Government, he added.
