KOCHI: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president V.D. Satheesan has urged telecom services provider Airtel to initiate legal action against the BJP for misusing the Airtel customer care number for its missed call membership campaign. In a letter to Airtel chairman and managing director Sunil Bharati Mittal, the Congress MLA said the BJP has been misusing the company’s customer care number.
“If you Google search for Airtel customer care number you will get a website with the address www.icustomercare.in/airtel-customer-care-number as the first suggestion. Along with the customer care numbers the website suggests a toll free number 1800 103 4444 as airtel customer care number,” the letter said.
According to Mr. Satheesan if a person dials this number the call gets disconnected and the person will get an SMS asking for calling from the registered number or give a missed call to 1800 266 2020 from a ID IM-SAMPARK. “This is the number used by BJP for the missed call campaign,” the letter said. Describing it as a political fraud, the Congress MLA urged to “take action against the website and the party if this was done without your knowledge.”
