A two-week programme has been arranged as part of the Generation UK-India programme of the British Council.

Thiruvananthapuram: A 41-member UK team in the age group of 21-25 will reach Kerala University on Tuesday as part of the Generation UK-India programme of the British Council. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would officially welcome them in the Senate Chamber at 12 pm. The team would stay in the university for two weeks. The two-week programme aims at understanding Indian culture and experiencing its education system.

It will promote India as a destination to study and gain work experience and offer mutually beneficial placements that will give young people from the UK the chance to develop employability skills and support the internationalisation of Indian companies and academic institutions. The programme would also create links that will be the basis for future collaboration and build a network of talented and ambitious young people from the UK who will form a future workforce for India and Indian companies.

It will also develop deeper, wider and stronger understanding between India and the UK. In addition to offering placements, it was aimed at highlighting the benefits of gaining experience in India, offering advice, guidance and training to individuals interested in pursuing opportunities, creating a network of alumni to inspire further participation and supporting institutions to develop new and existing placements in the country for students.
