Kerala Governor P Sathasivam gives away Prathibha Awards
KANNUR: “Apart from moulding out a responsible students’ community, universities have also try to identify and recognise the talents of the society beyond the academic frames,” said Governor P. Sathasivam, who is also the chancellor of the universities. He was delivering the keynote address after presenting the Prathibha Award instituted by the Kannur University here on Saturday.
Mr Sathasivam also pointed out that the universities seldom recognise the talents beyond the academic arena and also never attempt to understand the pulse of the society. “This move by the Kannur University is a step towards the commitment of educational institutions towards the society,” he added.
Vice-chancellor Dr M.K. Abdul Khader presided over the function. Those bagged the awards were Vanidas Elayavoor (culture), Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri (music), Fr Davis Chiramel (social work), K.R. Meera (literature) and Manju Warrier (cinema). In the absence of Manju Warrier, her parents received the award.
