Marri questions Talasani over works at graveyard

HYDERABAD: BJP senior leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy questioned minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav for launching construction work at a Muslim graveyard in the Old Customs Basti, Begumpet, on a disputed land parcel without completing the required formalities.

In a media statement on Thursday, Reddy said the demand for land for the Muslim graveyard has been pending for a long time which could not be resolved due to a land dispute.

"It was shown as government land in revenue records but was claimed as a school. When I was MLA, I conveyed to the local people that this land can be allotted for the graveyard. But the local people were not willing since it was very rocky. Now Talasani is blaming me for not providing land when I was MLA" Reddy stated.

Dubbing the minister as a 'habitual liar', Reddy said, "Now it is the same rocky land that is being provided for the graveyard. It's been ten years since Talasani got elected as MLA. Why did he fail to give the land all these years? Now he has launched construction work without completing the required formalities. Could it only be an eyewash with an eye on upcoming Assembly polls?"
