Hyderabad: 500 docs denied pg docus over fee issue
Hyderabad: More than 500 doctors who have completed their post-graduate diploma courses in gynaecology, gastroenterology, cardiology, hepatology, immunology and others cannot get registered with the Telangana Medical Council and begin practice as private medical colleges are not releasing their original certificates.
The 2017-18 batch has been denied their originals and medical colleges say the fee issue is pending in the High Court.
Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association which has taken up the issue has asked the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences to intervene in the matter. Association president Dr K. Mahesh Kumar said the private medical colleges had increased the fee and were taken to court. “The court in its interim order has asked the colleges to take a sign from the students. This bond is with the college. With the completion of the course, the colleges are demanding payment of the fee to return the original certificates. Why should students pay the fees when the colleges have a bond?”
The students met health minister Etala Rajender and asked him to intervene. A doctor explained, “The PG diploma students is suffering now and another batch of specialists will pass out next year. They too will have the same problem. The certificates can’t be withheld. Their future can’t be put at stake by the colleges.”
