Hyderabad: Three held for robbing lawyer
Hyderabad: A three-member robbery gang including a contract railway employee who robbed an advocate was arrested by Lallaguda police on Saturday in less than 24 hours after the case was reported. The cops also seized a mobile phone and cash from the gang.
The suspects are S. SaiKumar, 27, Shaikh Ghouse, 30, and J. Sharath Kumar, 36. Gopalapuram ACP K. Srinivasa Rao said the three belonged to the Tukaramgate area and are friends. Saikumar is a security guard at a private firm, Ghouse an autorickshaw driver and Sharath Kumar, a contract employee at the Lallaguda railway station. They used to frequently meet near the railway tracks at the Lallaguda railway station and consume alcohol. On Thursday night the three were drinking alcohol sitting near the tracks. Meanwhile, they saw advocate Sohan Lal returning home after praying at the Buddha Vihar and called him.
Thinking that they are people whom he might be knowing he went to them, police said. Saikumar started abusing Sohan lal. Later, the three threatened him with a knife, assaulted him and snatched his smart phone and cash. As he was injured, Sohan Lal went home after taking first aid. He filed a complaint on Friday morning.
“Based on clues from the victim we traced Saikumar and with leads from him the other two were also traced,” the ACP said. Saikumar has a criminal past and was convicted to two months jail in a snatching case at the Tukaramgate police station in 2011. Police also seized the stolen mobile phone, a knife and cash from them.
