Kerala: Poll squad' dupes man of Rs 1.94 lakh
Kozhikode: In a first of its kind in this election season, a gang on Friday duped a man under the guise of election special squad and decamped with 1.94 lakh.
According to the police, a gang of three stopped the car of one Mr Chandran, a native of Puthiyappa, at Eranjikkal in the afternoon saying they were election special squad officials and asked him to take out the money he kept in the car.
The gang then asked Mr Chandran to drive the car to the commissioner’s office with documents to prove that the money was genuine. Mr Chandran realised that he was duped only when he reached the commissioner’s office where he enquired about the ‘special squad officials’.
‘He then filed a complaint with the commissioner Uma Behera who passed it to the Nadakkavu circle inspector Moosa Vallikkadan. Mr Vallikkadan told DC that police has already started investigation.
