The Karnataka Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KCPCR) has asked the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) to allow the 30 students of the Swamy Vivekananda School, Sarayipalya, who were denied permission to write the SSLC examination in April, to appear for the supplementary examination in June.
Acting on a petition by Mr T Narasimha Murthy, a city resident, the commission has urged the KSEEB to treat them as regular students and not as private candidates. The students were denied permission to appear for the SSLC exam as their school is reportedly running its high school section unauthorisedly. The school management has however claimed it was cheated by a few DPI officials and an agent who collected a huge amount from it on the promise of regularising the section.
Mrs. Krupa Alva, KCPCR chairperson, blamed the DDPI office, Bengaluru South academic district and the BEO, Bengaluru South 4 for the situation.
