Hyderabad: Students get rewarded for education projects
Hyderabad: In view of the huge response to study projects competition, ‘Jignasa’ conducted for undergraduate students for the first time, authorities are being urged to make it an annual affair while including more subjects besides the conventional degree curriculum. In the inaugural year, students were invited to prepare projects under five categories — life sciences, physical sciences, commerce, languages and sciences.
The best two projects from each category, judged by senior professors from University of Hyderabad and Osmania University, were given awards by Collegiate Education commissioner A. Vani Prasad on Monday. Cash award of Rs 25,000 (for the best project) and Rs 18,000 (for the second-best project) were handed over to the students along with certificates.
Special officers Nancy Serena and J.Neeraja, who were part of this initiative stated that teachers requested the department to conduct the competition for 23 differnt subjects like Botony, Zoology, Micro-biology, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English, Telugu, Hindu etc. instead of confining it to just five categories.
