K Ayyappan Pillai hands over resignation to BJP
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader K. Ayyappan Pillai said on Monday that he has handed over his resignation as chairman of the Law Academy Law College to party leadership as the talks with the government have not resulted in a solid decision. The resignation will be handed over to the college management an appropriate decision was not taken, he said.
102-year-old Mr. Pillai, who took over as Academy chairman after the death of Justice Krishna Iyer had said the other day that he would quit his post if Ms Lakshmi Nair did not resign as principal. Mr. Pillai is a former state vice-president of BJP and had closely worked with the Sangh parivar organisations including Jan Sangh.
Meanwhile, the BJP atate leadership commemorated Manonmaniam Sundaran Pillai and his son P. S. Nataraja Pillai who was the finance minister in the Travancore - Cochin government. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan inaugurated the programme at the protest venue at the Law Academy Law College. Nataraja Pillai's children Venkitesh and Ragini and grand children Varadan and Murugan also attended the memorial programme.
