Librarians working for 16 years on consolidated pay seek regularisation
HYDERABAD: Finance Corporation to prepare a scheme for those working in computer centres and libraries, whose services have not been regularised in more than 16 years.
In Telangana there are 43 computer centres which have 76 faculty members, and 38 subordinates while in the 30 libraries, there are 39 librarians and 25 office subordinates. Both institutions were established in 2004 by the Urdu Academy but the management was transferred to the Minorities Finance Corporation in 2015. All those recruitments have been on a consolidated basis.
According to officials, there is no uniformity in the monthly remuneration. While some are getting only Rs 4,000, one of them draws Rs 16, 600 per month for the same post. The services of only four employees were regularised.
Officials of the Corporation said that these employees were first appointed for a period of 11 months on a consolidated basis but their services are continuing.
“When the management was transferred to the Finance Corporation we took up the matter of their services and referred the matter to the Minorities Welfare department seeking clarifications over their job position. Officials said that the employees are demanding regularization of their services and merge these institutions with Urdu Academy. They refused to be hired under the outsourcing model,” pointed out an official.
Another said, “When told that in case their services are hired on an outsource basis they will get at least Rs 15,000 per month, they are not ready to give their consent. We will negotiate with them and propose a scheme for their jobs.”
The employees said that the government should consider their case on humanitarian grounds and regularise their services.
