Rythu Bima inspired nation, says T Harish Rao
Hyderabad: Former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Sunday appreciated the efforts made by officials of the agriculture department in distributing Rythu Bhima cheques to farmers in a short span of time and with great accuracy.
Inaugurating the Telangana Agricultural Officers' Association (TGOA) annual calendar and diary, Mr Rao said that the efforts of officials will inspire the nation.
He told the gathering that the Rythu Bhima and Rythu Bandhu schemes have enhanced the confidence of farmers and every other state in the country wants to implement the scheme.
He said this change could take place because Chief Minister K. Chand-rasekhar Rao is himself a farmer. “Unlike during erstwhile governments, farmer suicides in the state declined drastically during the TRS rule. The state has not seen a single farmer protest ever since the implementation of welfare schemes,” he said.
The TRS government prevented fertiliser shortage by constructing a godown in every mandal headquarters, he said.
Turning his guns on the Congress, he said it has a history of criticising even the farmer friendly M.S. Swaminathan report. He said the Congress had done a huge injustice by not giving any grants for irrigation projects to Telangana.
