MTC driver dies of heart attack in Tambaram
Chennai: At a time when transport employees protesting across the state, a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus driver died of a heart attack in his residence at Tambaram. R. Mohan (51) of Anathapalayam near Tambaram was an MTC bus driver attached to Tambaram depot. He has suffered a chest pain on Saturday when he was at his residence, according to the police
The relatives rushed him to a nearby private hospital, but he breathed his last on the way. According to a police source, the doctors who examined him said he had a heart attack.
Knowing the demise of a colleague, the other drivers taking part in strike alleged that Mohan suffered a heart attack because the MTC officials forced him to come to work. But his family member denied these allegations, saying Mohan was a member of the ruling party trade union, which has distanced itself from the strike.
The family members also said that Mohan was on leave from January 2, two days before the strike started. Due to this, tension prevailed in Tambaram for some time.
