Originally, after a Tamil weekly magazine published Vishal’s interview, the council suspended him for three months. Aggrieved Vishal filed the present suit. When the suit came up for hearing on January 2, the senior counsel appearing for the TFPC had submitted that even now if Vishal conveys his regrets for making such remarks, the entire issue could be settled.

Accordingly, Vishal had on January 4 filed an affidavit expressing regrets for his remarks and the case was posted to January 6. In its resolution, the council said when the case relating to his suspension was pending before the Madras high court, two days back, Vishal in an attempt of undermine the unity of the association had made same remarks against the Council in an interview to a private Tamil satellite channel.
