SCB, Telangana start talks on alternative road

Meanwhile, vehicular traffic continues unrestricted on Gou-gh Road despite the deadline for its closure having passed.

Hyderabad: Deliberations are likely to continue on the alternative route proposed to be constructed from RK Puram to Safilguda to help overcome the problem of closure of roads in Secunderabad.

A survey of the route has already been completed by Army and state government officials, but they would like to include teams from the railways in the decision-making process as a section of railway land, the signalling system at RK Puram bridge, also falls within this stretch.

With the extended deadline for the closure of Gough Road having ended on Nov-ember 30, Army and state government held a meeting to discuss the situation on Tuesday. The meeting was scheduled to be held on Monday, but it had to be postponed by a day due to pressing engagements of the military authorities. At the meeting, it was decided that another meeting would be held, at which technical teams from the army, the GHMC and the railways would be invited to discuss the second road.

The State government was asked to begin work on the first alternative road from Safilguda Railway Gate to Allahabad Railway Gate, to create confidence among the civilian population.

Meanwhile, vehicular traffic continues unrestricted on Gough Road despite the deadline for its closure having passed. The defence authorities here are yet to receive word on the issue from New Delhi.
