Hyderabad: Depressed dentist commits suicide
Hyderabad: Depression due to health issues forced a 26-year-old dental doctor to end her life in Chaitanyapuri on Tuesday morning.
Vemula Geetha Krishna was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room, the police said. A few minutes before taking the extreme step, Geetha called her close friend Naresh and told him that she was ending her life unable to bear a severe pain in the head. In the suicide note she left, Geetha mentioned that she loved Naresh but said he is not responsible for her death.
According to police, Geetha who completed her BDS three years ago, was residing in a private women’s hostel in Chaitanyapuri and was working for a private hospital in LB Nagar until two months ago. On Tuesday morning, she went to a nearby temple and returned, after which her roommates left for work.
Around 10.45 am, she called her friend Naresh and told him she was depressed of life and was committing suicide. He immediately called Geetha’s elder sister Ramyakrishna and informed her of the same.
Ramyakrishna tried calling Geetha, but when there was no response, she called one of Geetha’s friends and asked her to check Geetha’s condition. “Geetha’s frie-nd rushed to the hostel and found that the room was locked from inside. The watchman of the hostel and three others broke open the door and found Geetha hanging from the ceiling fan,” said Mr K.S. Ratnam, sub-inspector, Chaitany-apuri police station.
Geetha in the suicide note also mentioned that she is not able to find peace anywhere. Geetha’s family members told cops that she had shared about her medical condition with them earlier.
Based on her father Vemula Rajanna’s complaint, police registered a suspicious death case and started investigation.
