Child abduction cases: Petition seeks Kerala High Court intervention

The beggar mafias make cores of rupees and such cases are increasing in Kerala, the petition argued.

Kochi: A petition has been filed before Kerala High Court urging the central and state governments to take steps to ensure the safety of children in the wake of reports of alleged child abduction cases in the state. The petitioner, advocate Sudheer, informed the court that he had received a video footage of a man smashing the legs of a child. He sought the court's urgent intervention to find the boy.

According to him, around 50,000 children go missing in India every year. They are forced to work for the beggar mafias which are organised criminal groups. They even kidnap new-borns from hospitals. The children are brutally beaten up, their limbs amputated or eyes pulled. The beggar mafias make cores of rupees and such cases are increasing in Kerala, the petition argued. The petitioner sought a directive to constitute a special investigation team to probe the crimes reported on Facebook messenger apps and YouTube.
