Karthika Masam starts at Srisailam
KURNOOL: The month-long Karthika Masam commenced at Sri Brahmaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam with propitiation of the presiding deity amid special pujas on Friday. The traditional festivities will end on December 4 evening with Laksha Deepothsavam, when one lakh wicks soaked in oil lamps will be lit, presenting a magnificent sight.
Srisailam temple officials have set up an Akasa Deepam to mark opening of the month-long Karthika ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, temple executive officer S. Lavanna said several programmes will be held during the month. Jwala Thoranam will be on November 18, when Karthika Pournami falls.
Every Monday of Karthika Masam will witness Laksha Deepothsavam during the Karthika masam. Traditional cultural events will be held at various places surrounding the temple from evening till late night during the month. There will be Vana Bhojanam for all devotees at temple Udyanavanam every day, the EO announced.
He said arrangements made include queue lines, anna danam, water supply; cloakrooms, chappal stands, toilets and temporary dressing rooms for devotees. Parking lots have also been established in the temple surroundings.
Lavanna maintained that devotees visiting Sri Brahmaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple will have to strictly follow Covid-19 guidelines, including wearing of face masks, using sanitisers and maintaining physical distance.
