Popular Front of India attacks Centre for misusing its agencies
Thiruvananthapuram: The Popular Front of India (PFI) has accused the Union government of taking steps to curb their activities and also tarnishing the image for their "uncompromising stand" against the "fascist ideology" of Sangh Parivar. PFI state general secretary C.P. Mohammed Basheer told reporters here on Friday that the Central government was trying to use agencies under its control including National Investigation Agency (NIA) for the purpose with the help of certain sections of the media. He also clarified that the PFI does not know the alleged move to ban the organisation other than newspaper reports.
The alleged report of the NIA has referred to some local cases in the state. In the one that related to the chopping of the hand of Prof T.J. Joseph the trial court found that it was a conspiracy hatched at the local level with none of PFI leaders involved. In Narath arms training camp case, Kerala High Court has quashed the UAPA sections, and the Supreme Court refused to admit any appeals by the NIA to set aside the Kerala High Court order, Mr Basheer said. This vilification campaign is seen as an attempt to create a stereotype amongst people to justify the repression of the organisation, Mr Basheer said.
