New set of experts to advise government on digital initiatives

The board will also monitor the timely and efficient execution of digital projects and services.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has constituted a ten-member advisory board of experts from IT, telecom and related sectors to advise the government on the delivery of digital services to the people and corporates. Former Union government secretary (electronics and information technology) Madhavan Nambiar will be the chairman of the Digital Government Advisory Board. The state government earlier constituted a ten-member high power committee comprising IT industry leaders like Kris Gopalakrishnan, S. D. Shibulal and V. K. Mathews to advice measures for promoting Kerala IT as a global destination.

Other members are VSSC director K. Sivan, Centre's cybersecurity coordinator Gulshan Rai, Prof N. Balakrishnan of Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore, Technopark former chief executive officer G. Vijayaraghavan, NASSCOM president R. Chandrasekhar, Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association president M. N. Vidyashankar, UST Global chief executive officer Sajan Pillai, KPMG chairman and chief executive officer Arun M. Kumar and Group of Technology Companies president K. Nandakumar. The board will have to meet on a quarterly basis and advise the government on delivering better digital services.

It will also have to evaluate how emerging technologies can be applied to public services, advise the government on emerging and futuristic trends in the industry and help formulate guidelines, according to a recent government order. The board will also monitor the timely and efficient execution of digital projects and services. It will work in liaison with the elected and appointed leaders of the state and initiate efforts to bring all digital and IT related activities under a common governance, said the order.
