Four temporary bus stands for Deepavali special buses

Passengers to board these stops from Oct. 26 to 28.

Chennai: In an effort to end traffic snarls and congestion on the eve of the Deepavali festival, the State Express Transport Corporation proposes to set up four temporary bus stands in addition to CMBT bus stand, for buses proceeding to various destinations in the State and Andhra Pradesh.

The authorities, in a press release, stated that necessary arrangements are being made to operate special buses on October 26, 27 and 28 enabling the people to celebrate the festival of lights - October 29 - at their native place.
The authorities have proposed to set up four temporary bus stands - MTC Bus Stand in Anna Nagar (West), State Election Commission bus stop opposite CMBT on 100 ft road, Arignar Anna Bus Stand, Tambaram-Sanatorium (MEPZ) and Poonamalle Bus Stand in Poonamalle.

Passengers have been requested to board the Tamil Nadu buses and APSRTC buses proceeding to Andhra Pradesh at Anna Nagar–West MTC Bus Stand.

Those proceeding to Puducherry and Cuddalore via East Coast Road and Kanchipuram are to board at the State Election Commission bus stop opposite CMBT on 100 ft road.

Passengers to Kumbakonam and beyond Thanjavur via Tindivanam and Vikkiravandi are to board at Arignar Anna Bus Stand, Tambaram-Sanatorium (MEPZ). Those going to Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur and Hosur via Poonamalle can board at Poonamalle Bus Stand, Poonamalle.

All passengers are being asked to board the buses at these temporary bus stands from October 26 to 28. The buses to places other than those mentioned, will be operated from CMBT as usual.

The buses with reserved seats from CMBT, Koyambedu would be operated via Maduravoyal, Poonamalle, Nazarathpet, Outer Ring Road and Vandalur instead of Tambaram and Perungaluthur. The passengers who reserved the buses with boarding point at Tambaram and Perungaluthur have been requested to board the concerned buses at Urapakkam temporary bus stand.

Persons proceeding via Tambaram and Perungaluthur have been requested to avoid this route and are asked to drive through Tirukazhukundram, Chengalpattu / Sriperumbudur, Chengalpattu. The Metropolitan Transport Corporation has promised to arrange feeder services to these bus stands.
