Educationists to release alternate policy
Chennai: Educationists, teachers and social activists belonging to 40 organisations have prepared an alternate policy for Ministry of Human Resource Development’s draft new education policy.
The ‘people charter of alternate policy on education’ will be released by Kerala’s former education minister M.A. Baby in Loyola College here on October 8.
Professor N. Mani, co-ordinator, Federation for Protection of Right to Education said, “MHRD did not consult the key stakeholders in education namely the teachers, parents, students and educationists before drafting the new education policy. So, we have jointly prepared the alternate education policy.”
“It is only a draft alternate education policy. People who are concerned about the education should also contribute to making it as a complete education policy,” he said. Former vice-chancellor V.Vasanthidevi headed the committee which drafted the alternate education policy.
Educationists S.S. Rajagopal, R. Natarajan and Professor Ramanujam will participate in the function. More than 3,000 people belonging to more than 40 different organisations are expected to participate in this function.
