PIL seeking sit on encounter postponed
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday adjourned to Wednesday a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a direction to the state government to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to probe into the alleged fake encounter in which CPI(ML) New De-mocracy leader Punnam Lingaiah last week.
The PIL was filed by Prof. Gaddam Laxman, president of the Telang-ana State Civil Liberties Committee.
Mr Sanjeev Kumar, special counsel appearing for the government, told a division bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akhter that the re-autopsy report of Lingaiah would be ready by Tuesday afternoon.
The special counsel said told the court that the re-postmortem had been conducted by forensic experts in Hyderabad as per the directions of the Telangana High Court and the body handed over to the family.
