Leaders reach peace deal in Kannur
KANNUR: The leaders of CPM, BJP and RSS who met before a table for peace talks in Kannur guest house on Saturday agreed to take the message of peace to each of their party workers within 10 days. The message also includes promise not to instigate or flare up violence in case of a clash. The meeting was attended by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, district secretary P. Jayarajan, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, RSS leaders Gopalankutty master, P. Ranjith.
Though the peace meetings were not new to Kannur, both the sides agreed that the peace initiatives would be broadened than just talks but timely intervention and review of situations, after every unfortunate incident. This will not be confined to the top level leaders, but at the grassroots level.
The first of such a meeting would be held in Payyannur on August 11. The next would be in Thalassery. The chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will chair a meeting in Thiruvananthapuramon Monday next. This would be followed by the government level peace talks in Kannur. The leaders who met in Kannur on Saturday also reached a consensus on not to provoke the other side while observing the martyr’s day of any worker.
