Finance minister Arun Jaitley to visit RSS man's home
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union finance and defence minister Arun Jaitley will arrive here on Sunday to visit the bereaved family of slain RSS activist S.L. Rajesh and attend a memorial programme in a rare display of BJP’s commitment to take on the CPM-led state government, supposedly presiding over unremitting political killings. Mr Jaitley’s special flight from New Delhi will touch down at 11.15 am. From the airport he will proceed to Rajesh’s house at Sreekaryam and address the commemoration at Kalabash auditorium at Kallampally near Sreekaryam at 12 noon.
He will also visit homes of RSS leader Jayaprakash, badly injured in an alleged CPM attack eight months ago, at Sreevarahom, and interact with families, who had suffered alleged CPM mayhem. His meeting with ictim families of RSS and BJP leaders is scheduled at Ambila auditorium at Attukal. At 4 pm, he is expected to address a press conference at a hotel in Vazhuthacaud and proceed to the Southern Air Command at Akkulam for an official programme at 5 pm. Mr Jaitley’s visit is at the behest of central RSS and BJP leaders, who feel the exercise would put the CPM on tenterhooks and press the State Government to rein in elements bent on violence, like the one that culminated in the savage killing of Rajesh on July 29 night.
