Chennai: College student in bus hurt in clash
Chennai: A second year B.Sc (Maths) student from Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women suffered injuries while she was travelling by an MTC bus on Wall Tax road following a clash among students who had congregated on that road.
She was hurt in the volleys of stones that were exchanged on Thursday evening. It took as many as 15 sutures in the face to stop the bleeding of the injured Ishwarya, resident of M.K.B. Nagar, who is under treatment at a government hospital. The doctors who are treating her propose to carry out a plastic surgery on her face.
The incident took place near Chennai Central Station on Wall Tax Road when the girl was heading home, by MTC route 2 A bus, plying between Anna Square and KKD Nagar.
The students from a city college went on a rampage on the road, stoning each other unmindful of the State-run buses plying on that road. In the process, the windshield of the bus shattered and stray glass pieces fell on Ishwarya's face.
The students fled the scene soon after the incident.
The cops have gathered CCTV footage from the commercial establishments along Wall Tax road to identify the students who indulged in violence. A case had been registered by Flower Bazaar Police station. It is the eighth incident of damage wrought on an MTC bus as a fallout of student violence in the city in a week’s time.
