VIJAYAWADA: A coin-operated sanitary napkin dispenser and incinerator has been installed at the Swarna Jayanthi Waiting Hall on Platform No. 1 of Vijayawada Railway Station of the South Central Railway.
The equipment got inaugurated by SCR Women’s Welfare Organisation (SCRWWO) president Dr. Jaya Mohan on Wednesday. It has been procured with funds of SCRWWO, Vijayawada. The facility is for convenience of women passengers and workforce at the Vijayawada station.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jaya Mohan appealed to station staff to spread the word and make women passengers aware of the essential amenity available at Vijayawada Station. She asked staff to ensure that the machine remains filled and is in working order.
Dr. K. Sarada, gynaecologist and vice president and SCRWWO gave valuable tips on good menstrual health and usage of various sanitary napkin products.
Station director P.B.N. Prasad thanked SCRWWO for its philanthropic initiative. He said the coin dispenser will release a sanitary napkin on dropping ₹5 coin into the machine.
