Six more held for clash during march to Kerala High Court

The march towards the HC was in protest against a judgement nullifying a marriage between a Muslim man and a Hindu convert.

Kochi: Police on Monday arrested six more SDPI-backed Muslim Ekopana Samithy workers who clashed with them during a march to the High Court here on May 29. The arrested were identified as Shihabuddin (47) and Abdul Nasar (40) of North Paravur, Muhammad Ibrahim (37) of Chowara, Noufal, Faisal and Shahmeer from Mattancherry. While Shihabuddin is arraigned as ninth accused in the case, Abdul Nasar is the tenth accused, Muhammad Ibrahim 15th, Noufal 25th, Faisal 26th and Shahmeer 27th.

Police had earlier arrested four - identified as Sagheer and Mohammed Sheriff, both natives of North Paravur, Sudheer of Palluruthy and Shihab of Kakkanad. Earlier, the cops lodged an FIR with charges under Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups), obstruction of public way, and others.
