Chandrabose's son flays LDF government
THRISSUR: The son of security guard Chandrabose, who was murdered by business tycoon Muhammed Nisham in January 2015, has protested against the LDF government’s apathy in handling the pending legal issues in the case. Amal Dev, the teenage son of the victim, said in his Facebook post on Sunday that Nisham had been using his money power to get parole and early release from the jail. Chandrabose’s family had been writing to the state government to appoint Mr C.P. Udayabhanu as the special public prosecutor to oppose the appeal of Nisham in the High Court. But they were yet to get any reply in this regard.
Later, he told mediapersons that his family had lost faith in the LDF government as Nisham’s name was proposed for early release from jail. “The thought of the release of a criminal like Nisham is giving our family nightmares. Nisham’s friends and relatives held a meeting at Muttichur, the native place of the business tycoon on June 1, demanding parole and relaxation of his jail term. They portrayed him as a philanthropist and the government doesn’t seem to take a call on the matter and that adds to our worry,” said Amal who is from a traditional CPI family.
Nisham is presently lodged in Kannur central prison where is allegedly getting VIP treatment, he added. In January 2016, the district additional sessions court here had sentenced Nisham to 38 years in jail for ramming Chandrabose with his Hummer in the wee hours of January 29, 2015 for a slight delay in opening the gate of Sobha city, a residential township in Thrissur where he stayed. He later kicked the injured guard, who pleaded for water, saying “this dog will not die.” He dragged him into his car and drove away to the parking area of Sobha City thereby preventing him from getting medical care in time. Chandrabose died in the hospital on February 16. Earlier, Nisham had 12 criminal cases against him and had been slapped with KAPPA after his arrest in the murder case.
