Central University of Kerala convocation on June 8

Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar will be the chief guest.

KASARGOD: The convocation ceremony of the Central University of Kerala (CUK) will be held on its main campus, Thejaswini Hill, Periye, here on June 8. Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar will be the chief guest at the convocation, the second after its inception in 2009 to be held on the campus. The first was in 2014 when President Pranab Mukherjee was the chief guest. The President is the Visitor of all Central Universities. A total of 440 students will receive certificates - 11 of them M.Phil, two PhD, 407 PG and 20 UG.

Chancellor of the varsity Dr Virender Lal Chopra will preside over the function which starts at 11.30 am. The CUK had undergone NAAC assessment process in 2016 and was graded B++ (2.76 CGPA). Apart from this, it has three centres in Kasargod - Vidyanagar, Kuniya and Padannakkad - and two off-campuses, in Thiruvananthapuram and Thiruvalla. The varsity authorities are planning to bring centres in the district to the main campus by next year.
